MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Super 10 Motel in Millington will be closed temporarily due to criminal activity and community disruption, county officials announced Wednesday.

The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office and the Millington Police Department say the motel is a “hotspot for criminal activity and nuisance behavior.”

They conducted an extensive investigation after getting numerous complaints from citizens regarding illegal activity.

Between March 2022 and April 2024, Millington Police say they received approximately 260 calls to the address.

These calls reportedly included disturbances, drugs, suspicious individuals, fights, alarms, trespassing, suspicious vehicles, narcotics use and overdose, armed parties, 911 hang-up calls, thefts, and domestic disturbances.

According to DA Mulroy, there was a recent drug overdose at the location.

Mulroy says they searched the motel Wednesday and found illegal items. “This morning, there have already been several arrests as a result of this operation. We found drugs, ammunition, and other things that don’t belong here.”

As for those who have already paid for rooms, they will be allowed to stay. However, before the motel can accept new customers, they must make updates.

“That means 24/7 security,” said Mulroy. “It means enrolling in the Shelby County District Office anti-trespass program and giving law enforcement full access to video surveillance. It may also involve doing warrant checks for guests to make sure we don’t have further criminal activity going on.”

The owner of Super 10 Motel must appear in court on May 21 to show why a permanent injunction should not be issued.
