Crews respond to large outdoor fire off University Drive

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Agencies responded to a large outdoor fire off University Drive, according to a Huntsville Fire & Rescue (HFR) spokesperson.

HFR Deputy Fire Marshal PIO Jerry Tanner told News 19 that someone called in stating a tree was on fire near the intersection of Wynn Drive and Adventist Boulevard at about 3:05 p.m. on Thursday.

Four HFR trucks responded to the scene, and no structures were affected. The fire did have a few flare-ups due to the wind.

The Forestry Commission is out at the scene now, and crews have called for a bulldozer.

Tanner added the cause is still unknown at this time.

News 19 crews are at the scene now working to gather more information.
