Crestview Mayor J.B. Whitten to host lecture series and prayer breakfast later this month

CRESTVIEW — Crestview Mayor J.B. Whitten is set to host two events that allow the community to come together later this month. Here is what we know.

Government presentation

On Saturday, May 18, Whitten will give an opinion presentation on the "Most Controversial Supreme Court Decision Ever" at the Crestview Public Library at 2 p.m.

The next chapter in his lecture series follows a previous talk, when he discussed the "Most Controversial Presidential Election Ever." Now, Whitten will share his views on a Supreme Court decision that has profoundly affected the American government.

By using his experience as a retired social studies teacher, Whitten hopes that attendees join him as he aims to enrich guests' understanding of the nation's historical path and the court opinion's effect on today's society.

The Crestview Public Library is located at 1445 Commerce Drive.

Prayer breakfast

On Thursday, May 30, Whitten, with help from Rocky Bayou Christain School and All in Credit Union, will host a prayer breakfast at the Crestview Community Center from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

The event will feature guest speaker Clint Purvis, a minister who serves as the chaplain of the Florida State University athletics team.

While admission is free, city officials are asking anyone who plans to attend to register at the city's website, https://www.cityofcrestview.org/FormCenter/Event-Registration-28/2024-Prayer-Breakfast-Registration-166. Guests also can register by calling the mayor's office at 850-680-3812.

The Crestview Community Center is located at 1446 Commerce Drive.
