Creative artisans in rural Maryland’s countryside ready to showcase their craft

MIDDLETOWN, Md. (DC News Now) — Marylanders will not want to miss the Valley Craft Network Spring Showcase.

For more than 40 years, their creativity has inspired the artisans. Every fall and spring, visitors could trek the artisan trail in rural western Maryland, but this spring, they are all housed in Middletown’s Willow Oaks Craft Cidery.

“This is a really fun opportunity to see everyone’s work in one location,” Kesra Hoffman, a landscape painter, said.

Nate Craft, with Pathfinder Farm Distillery, said it’s a gathering for all the artisans to be in one place and hang out.

“People can come visit with us, learn the stories behind the things that we make and have a good time with us,” Craft said.

Alice Orzechowski tells her Caprikorn Dairy Goat Farm visitors about her exotic soaps made from goat’s milk.

“Goats have very distinct personalities,” Orzechowski said. “Some of them are really nice and some of them are like hellions.”

These artisans put their generous hearts behind their talents and all the proceeds go to charitable causes.

“When somebody buys one of our prints or other merchandise with our photos,” Leigh Scott said. “It goes to support community organizations.”

Scott says her proceeds will go towards helping to feed hungry children in Africa.
