Roseville robbery leads to pursuit, crash in Sacramento; four arrested

California Highway Patrol said a 24-year-old man from Roseville was driving a gray Toyota Corolla while heading east on Riego Road when, for unknown reasons, he crossed over into the opposite lane and crashed head-on with a Chevy 3500 pickup truck that was carrying a Bobcat tractor.

Officials added that the man from Roseville was trapped in his vehicle when CHP arrived and was declared dead at the scene. The man driving the truck, a 55-year-old from Sacramento, was taken to UC Davis for treatment of his injuries.

Alcohol or drugs did not play a factor in the crash, CHP said.

At the time of the incident, CHP said Riego Road was dealing with closures, but the road has opened since then.
