Columbus Drive reopened after car crash

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Police Department said it is investigating a crash that caused serious injuries early Sunday morning.

According to a release, the crash happened at about 3:13 a.m. Sunday on Columbus Drive under Interstate 4.

Officers said the incident caused serious injuries, but they did not say how many people were injured nor how many vehicles were involved.

A camera from the Florida Department of Transportation showed at least two vehicles at the crash scene, with one car having heavy damage on the front end.

The eastbound and westbound lanes on East Columbus Drive were closed while officers investigated what happened. They have since reopened.
