Crash backs up northbound Highway 23 in Thousand Oaks area

Traffic backed up on northbound Highway 23 through Thousand Oaks late Tuesday afternoon due to an accident.

A crash involving a semitrailer was reported around 3:45 p.m. near Olsen Road, according to California Highway Patrol officials. The semi was said to be blocking the entire lane of the offramp, the agency's incident log indicated.

Ventura County Sheriff's Capt. James Sullivan said the accident occurred on East Olsen Road off of the exit ramp, putting the investigation in the sheriff's jurisdiction.

The crash, which involved the big rig and a pickup truck, resulted in only "very minor" injuries, officials later said, with no one transported to a hospital.

The northbound traffic jam extended from around the juncture with Highway 101 almost to Tierra Rejada Road for nearly two hours.

The scene had been cleared and roadways were open before 6 p.m., official said.
