Couple, 2 dogs rescued from Las Cruces apartment fire

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A couple and two dogs were rescued from an apartment complex after a fire broke out in Las Cruces on Saturday, March 30, according to the Las Cruces Fire Department.

The Fire Department says after 11 a.m. Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to the report of a fire at an apartment complex located at 1955 S. Telshor Blvd. in Las Cruces.

Crews arrived to find a fire on the second-floor landing of an apartment.

The fire was quickly put out and firefighters located two victims, a man and a woman on the apartment patio.

The Fire Department says the couple’s injuries were minor, and did not require transportation for further medical care.

While extinguishing the fire, firefighters also found two dogs in neighboring apartments that were suffering from smoke inhalation. The dogs were provided oxygen before being released back to their owners.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire and damage estimates have yet to be determined, according to the Fire Department.
