Following the press conference that described the night deputies were dispatched to Supervisor Scrivner’s Tehachapi home and the allegations against Scrivner, the County of Kern issued the following statement:

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference today about Second District Supervisor Zack Scrivner. Because this is an ongoing Sheriff’s Office investigation it is inappropriate for County officials or staff to comment. All questions for comments or requests for information should be directed to the Sheriff’s Office. Scrivner is being investigated on allegations he sexually assaulted a preteen, Sheriff Donny Youngblood said during a press conference Thursday afternoon.

As California stresses the need to crack down on crime, Bakersfield is a key city of concern

On Tuesday night, Youngblood said, he received a call from District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer, Scrivner’s aunt, saying she was concerned about him, he appeared to be having some type of psychotic episode and was armed with a gun.

Thirty guns, electronic devices and psychedelic mushrooms were seized from the home, Youngblood said. He said forensic studies will determine whether Scrivner was under the influence.

There is a criminal protective order barring Scrivner from having contact with his children.
