This county had the highest turnout for early voting

While Maryland's eight-day early voting period for the 2024 primary election ended Thursday, work continues and is ramping up for elections officials across the state. According to the Maryland State Board of Elections, the most early votes were cast on Thursday, contributing to a total of 156,248 ballots cast -- which is about a 4% turnout statewide. Boards of elections across Maryland have already started canvassing ballots. Baltimore County Elections Director Ruie LaVoie is overseeing the operation inside an Owings Mills warehouse that's receiving near constant deliveries of ballots collected from secure drop boxes to be timestamped, counted, sealed and stored until canvassing.
