Coroner: Man died of self-inflicted gunshot
May 6—The Lawrence County coroner reported a man took his own life Saturday inside of a car in the Cascade Park parking lot.
Reports from other sources were that a wedding reception was going on inside the dance hall when the shot rang out around 7:45 p.m.
Coroner Richard "R.J." Johnson said the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The apparent suicide was not in any way connected to related to other events going on in the park, he said.
He would not provide the man's identity because of extenuating circumstances. The deceased man was inside of a white Corvette parked off to the right in the lot, according to people at the scene.
