Coroner identifies driver who crashed into train near Kimberlina Road

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Three people are dead after a vehicle collided with a train in the Wasco area early Sunday morning.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office said Mckinley Jordan Toliver, 19, of Wasco, was the driver of the 2021 Honda that collided with the railroad crossing arm and the train.

Toliver was driving the Honda westbound on Kimberlina Road, near Highway 43, toward the train at an undetermined speed, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Toliver then struck the railroad crossing arm and train, according to CHP. The Honda then rolled over and traveled out of control.

The use of alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash is under investigation.

The coroner’s office will release the identity of the two deceased passengers at a later time.
