Cooler and drier air arrives

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A strong breeze behind a cold front brings much cooler air into the Tampa Bay area today. Highs only reach the low 70s, which is nearly 10 degrees below average.

Despite the sunny afternoon, the breeze keeps it feeling cool all day. Boaters should continue to use caution since those winds also keep seas high. There is a higher risk of rip currents as well.

Temperatures drop quickly after sunset, and overnight lows will be in the mid-upper 50s. You may need a light jacket tomorrow morning.

We continue the stretch of cool, sunny and dry days through the weekend. Should be great weather for WFLA’s Outdoors Expo and Boat Show at Armature Works in Tampa. We hope to see you there.

Next week will be warmer with highs back in the 80s.

The next rain chance comes with a cold front late next week.
