What’s Cool At School? – The rewards keep coming for Nevada’s Teacher Of The Year

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – We mentioned this last week. Now we’re hearing more on why a Las Vegas teacher got free tickets to this year’s Formula 1 race.

F1 Marketing Vice-President Austin Brown surprised Nevada Teacher Of The Year Laura Penrod in her classroom at the Southwest Career/Technical Academy. He said that education and innovation are at the core of what F1 does:

“Without students that become our engineers that become team crew to drive the sport forward, our sport’s not possible. We appreciate everything you do.”

Penrod said that even though her principal has tricked her into being on tv –

“I still love her for supporting all of the things that it’s taken to be nevada teacher of the year.”

Winning the race tickets capped off an eventful two weeks for Penrod, who’d just gotten back from Washington, D.C. for a dinner honoring each state’s teacher of the year hosted by First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden.
