Local sorority to host events in March that celebrates women

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — To commemorate women’s history month, the Conway Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will host a Women’s Empowerment Brunch and a semi-formal ball that will celebrate women, allows networking opportunities, and provides relaxation to women during the month of March.

The Conway Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. announced the events in a news release.

Throughout American history, women have made significant contributions in various industries. From law enforcement to politics to education and many other fields, women have broken barriers, the release said.

The Conway Alumnae Chapter prides itself upon service and providing positive spaces for women to fellowship. The month of March is no different.

The inaugural Women’s Empowerment Brunch will take place on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in the Singleton Ballroom on Saturday, March 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the release said.

Attendees will enjoy a variety of breakfast foods like chicken and waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, fruit, and an assortment of non-alcoholic beverages, according to the release.

Women who have made significant impact in their communities will be celebrated.

Each nominee has proven to significantly contribute to the economic development, education, international awareness, physical and mental health, and politics of their communities, the release said.

The Women’s Empowerment Brunch includes a motivational message from Emmy-nominated and award-winning journalist Christel Bell.

Bell uses her personal story of triumph to empower women in her community to reach their full potential in life, the release said.

The chapter will conclude women’s history month with the ‘A Crimson and Cream Affair’ on Saturday, March 23, at 6:00 p.m. at the Crown Reef Beach Resort. The attire for the event is semi-formal. Attendees can expect a plated dinner while listening to the sounds of Tamir and Company, the release said.

The event will bring together all members of the community, and those who are part of Divine 9 organizations. After dinner, attendees will be able to dance to the music of DJ Ricky the Truth, the release said.

Both events require a ticket purchase.
