Construction to impact MTS trolley service in East County

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — With the Wave FC and Padres playing home games this weekend, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System said it will increase trolley service to Petco Park and Snapdragon Stadium.

People traveling from East County should beware of changes to trolley service due to construction projects scheduled for this weekend, MTS announced Friday.

Northbound SR-125 to close in Spring Valley starting Friday

Starting Friday after 9:30 p.m. and all day Saturday and Sunday, all trolley stations east of Grossmont Transit Center will not have service due to construction. This includes people wanting to ride the Green Line and Orange Line.

Instead, riders may take a bus shuttle from the Park & Ride lots at the following areas:

— Spring Street Station (Orange Line)

— Grossmont Station (Orange and Green Lines)

— 70th Street Station (Green Line)

Full closure of southbound SR-163 from I-8 to I-5 Saturday

Trolleys will pick up fans for regular service to and from the 12th and Imperial Transit Center prior to the Padres games at all stations every 15 minutes.

The Green Line trolleys will have regular service to and from the Stadium Station prior to the Wave game every 15 minutes.

The Padres will play against the Phillies Friday at 6:40 p.m., Saturday at 5:40 p.m. and Sunday at 1:10 p.m. at Petco Park. Meanwhile, Wave FC will face Bay FC Saturday at 7 p.m. at Snapdragon Stadium.
