Connor indicted in connection to murder case

Mar. 21—WHITLEY COUNTY — The Whitley County Grand Jury has indicted a Corbin man in connection with the death of his neighbor.

The Whitley County Grand Jury indicted Michael Boyd Connor, 73, of Corbin, on one count of Murder in relation to the January death of Charles E. Ohler.

According to previous reports and Connor's arrest citation, Ohler and Connor were neighbors who both engaged in the hobby of "doomsday prepping," which involves the gathering of supplies.

Purportedly, the two had went in together to purchase a substantial quantity of ammunition. However, according to published reports, a disagreement sparked when Connor felt as though he was not receiving the proper amount of ammunition.

This led to a heated argument, which ultimately ended with the untimely demise of Ohler.

Ohler's body was discovered by his daughter on Jan. 6, which led to an initial police investigation. Whitley County Sheriff Bill Elliotte interviewed Connor as a possible suspect, and eventually obtained a search warrant for his residence.

Connor reportedly admitted to Whitley County Sheriff Elliotte that he shot Ohler during the dispute.

Connor remains lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center in lieu of a $1 million bond.
