Completion rates rise for Yuba College district

Apr. 26—The Yuba Community College District (YCCD) announced this week that there were "remarkable increases" in student completion rates across its colleges.

The district, which includes Woodland Community College, the Colusa County Campus, the Lake County Campus, the Sutter County Center and Yuba College, said the rise in completion rates reflects the district's commitment to student success.

"Our district and colleges are working hard to serve our students and our communities," Dr. Sonja Lolland, vice chancellor of Education and Planning at YCCD, said in a statement. "The work we are doing to improve student support services, streamline processes and improve academic supports is paying off."

Lolland said the completion rates for YCCD "significantly exceed the state average."

From 2017 to 2021, YCCD as a whole saw a 24% increase in students completing their associate degrees, officials said. During that time period, Woodland Community College had a 48% increase in associate degree completions and Yuba College had a 16% growth in completions.

"These numbers tell a very good story of our faculty and staff's commitment to our students' success," YCCD Chancellor Dr. Shouan Pan said in a statement. "Importantly, this increase also indicates our students' dedication to and belief in themselves. Deciding to attend and remain in college, especially during the pandemic, is not an easy choice. I'm very proud of each student who made the commitment to earn their associate's and each employee who supported them along the way."
