Commissioner Jordan Johnson wins second term in district 1

AUGUSTA (WJBF) – With the polls now closed, voters we spoke with in Richmond County are feeling confident in their preferred candidate.

Over at Commissioner Jordan Johnson’s campaign party, as voters watch the numbers come in they’re were hoping Johnson gets a chance to serve for a second term in District 1.

“Augusta needs folks, actually have a vision and have a heart for service. You can’t teach that kind of leadership and that is leadership the highest form of leadership is service and Jourdan is definitely one of the templates for that,” said voter Earnest G. Smith.

Johnson’s win means he will serve four more years as District 1 Commissioner. He says he plans to continue helping people receive housing and other initiatives.

“We also need to be very intentional about serving our youth serving families, and serving families who are living in poverty their mothers live in hotels with their children were going to get them out of those. Hotels there are really some initiative that going to help them at large.”

Over in District 9, Francine Scott defeats longtime local leader Marion Williams. Many people say they voted for candidates with solutions.

“And that speaks to the kind of leader ship that we need the kind of representation that we need here in Augusta folks that can identify the problem and have a solution for the problem it’s just a solution for the problem,” said Smith.

“We’re going to continue to share our message of how strong is District is how great this district is and how we have gotten to a better place over the last few years and it’s just a small piece of the puzzle of what Augusta is,” explained Commissioner Johnson.
