Columbus Metropolitan Library branch moves to temporary location ahead of construction

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Linden Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library will move into a temporary location as it closes for the construction of a new building.

On Saturday, April 6, the current CML Linden Branch on 2223 Cleveland Avenue will close its doors at 6 p.m. A temporary location next to the Linmoor Education Center will open at 9 a.m. on April 15, until the new Linden Branch building’s construction is complete. Construction was originally supposed to begin in late February, but was delayed until an April 17 “wallbreaking” ceremony.

Columbus Metropolitan Library’s plan to reinvest in local communities is currently in its second phase. In November, Columbus approved a levy that will bring in $39 million for the library system during its first year.

The new Linden Branch will be built on the same site of the current branch, where it has been located for two decades. It will more than double the size of the current branch that was built in 2004.

Serving as construction manager at risk on the project is Turner Construction Company. Moody Nolan has been tabbed as architect on the project.

The mid-April ceremony will mark the beginning of construction on the new project. It will be a highly visual event that will include library leaders, city officials and community officials. The event is free and open to all.
