Columbus man arrested in Florida for alleged lewd activity with 14-year-old on cruise
A Columbus man has been arrested in Miami-Dade County in Florida after allegedly performing a sexual act in front of a 14-year-old boy on a cruise ship, according to an arrest affidavit.
The affidavit acquired by the Ledger-Enquirer shows Anish Shan, 21, of Columbus was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct on a child under 16 and lewd and lascivious exhibition on a child under 16.
Both Shan and the victim were passengers aboard the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas cruise ship, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit alleges that Shan approached the victim and asked him for his age. The victim replied that he was 14.
Shan allegedly then proceeded to perform a sex act in the presence of the victim, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit states Shan later asked the victim to perform a sex act with him.
Shan was apprehended on March 8 and transported to the special victims bureau/ sexual crimes investigations unit for questioning, according to the report.
The affidavit said, “Post Miranda, the defendant admitted to the victim’s allegations.”
Shan was arrested and transported to the Turner Guildford Knight Correctional Center.
