Columbus Library CEO retires after 22 years in the role

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Columbus Metropolitan Library announced that its chief executive officer of the last 22 years will retire.

CEO Patrick Losinski’s retirement was made official on Tuesday afternoon. Losinski took on the role in 2002 after serving for public library systems in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Colorado. While in Columbus, Losinski had been recognized by multiple organizations, including being recognized in 2018 by Columbus Business First for most admired executive and lifetime achievement.

“Pat’s leadership has not only ensured that Columbus Metropolitan Library is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow, but he’s helped to redefine what a public library can – and should – be in service of its community,” says Tom Katzenmeyer, president of the CML Board of Trustees. “We are immensely grateful to Pat for his remarkable service to the organization, the 23 communities it serves and to the profession.”

Losinski will remain in the role of CEO until the CML’s Board of Trustees picks his replacement, a process that will take several months to complete.
