Columbia County needed it once but not any more so make a bid

APPLING, Ga. (WJBF) – Some old goods need to be gone in Columbia County.

“We’re selling it now that it served it’s life and met it’s purpose for the county,” said Columbia County Fleet Manager Nick Hayes.

We’re checking out the deals ahead of Saturday’s Columbia County’s surplus action.

“Look at all this merchandise. This is one auction you can’t afford to sit out.”

“Casey Jones, move over. Columbia County’s Christmas Train says it runs, who could ask for anything more.”

“No bid is too outrageous even for this beauty: no start, no drive shaft, no exhaust, no fuel tank… no problem.”

“Of course, it’s not new stuff. This is a surplus auction. They’re up front about it. You want oil, and they tell you it’s used.”

“An incinerator. I told you, the deals here are hot.”

“Plumbing problems at home? Don’t worry. This gets rid of them in a big way.”

“This might be a bit of a surprise — Columbia County auctioning off an E-Z go golf cart, if you know you know.”

So, a lot of the stuff is less than fresh. That should be no surprise. Columbia County gets its money’s worth.

“Absolutely. I tell everybody we’re in a conservative county. We like to use it until it pays for itself and then sell it,” said Nick.

It will be out with the old as soon as they say sold.
