Columbia County announces road closures in Evans Towne Center for Thunder over Evans event
Columbia County recently announced two temporary road closures in the Evans Towne Center area for the Thunder over Evans event this weekend.
Antebellum Way will be closed to all traffic from 8 a.m. Friday through midnight Saturday, according to a news release from the county.
Evans Town Center Boulevard will also be closed from Ronald Reagan Drive to Antebellum Way, according to the release. The roadway will be closed to all thru traffic from 6 a.m. to midnight Saturday.
"The purpose for closing the roadway is to reduce pedestrian/vehicle conflicts for the event," county officials noted in the release. "Pedestrian traffic is expected to be extremely high in that area, as well as the areas surrounding Evans Towne Center Park, especially during ingress and egress times. When driving in this area please pay attention to your surroundings at all times, obey all traffic control devices unless instructed by law enforcement to do otherwise, and stay alert for pedestrians, especially children, darting out into the roadway unexpectedly."
Pedestrians are asked to cross at marked mid-block pedestrian crosswalks or intersections with marked pedestrian crossings unless instructed differently by law enforcement.
