Colton Haynes says “American Horror Story: Cult” is the *perfect* title

On Thursday, American Horror Story fans and stars alike learned the title of the upcoming seventh season — that title being American Horror Story: Cult. And Colton Haynes, who was recently added to the cast, couldn’t be more thrilled about the news.

“Personally, I thought it was named after me,” he joked to HelloGiggles, then revealed his *true* feels. “Cult, I think it’s the best.”

“I was getting on a plane,” he continued. “Sarah Paulson, we were tweeting each other. The whole cast was tweeting each other [Thursday] night, just as I was going to take off, because we didn’t know the title.

We found out [Thursday] night and it’s the perfect title for this. We didn’t know if they were going to play more toward the political aspect of the show, but this makes more sense.”

That’s right, the title is PERFECT.

But, what does he mean by this title making more sense?! Unclear at this point, but Haynes did go on to address how the show relates to the current political climate. Specifically, how it’s interesting that the show is called Cult, when we know that it’s going to be a political season. “Doesn’t it feel like that’s how the world is right now,” he asked, with a laugh. “I think it’s very appropriate.”

Well, do with that what you will…

As for his character, Haynes also couldn’t say much there. Like, he couldn’t reveal if he plays one of the (apparent) clown-looking cult members. But let it be known that the Instagram that creator Ryan Murphy shared to announce Haynes’ casting — which shows Haynes in smeared, red lipstick — has us thinking that he looks pretty darn clown and cult like.

And about that teaser: “I can say that the teaser speaks for itself. There’s going to be stuff like that in the teaser, but also a lot of very topical issues that are going on in the world today.” Again, UNPACK AWAY.

He also addressed what it’s like to be working on AHS, alongside Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson. “Working with them is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” he said. Talk about high praise! “You’re just watching a masterpiece happen, and you’re watching it so many different times.”

“Their talent is so endless and they’re so genuine and so awesome. I was terrified when I started on the show because I was a big fan of the show before, but the crew, the cast, the creators, Ryan, are just a dream. It’s my dream job.”

Haynes added that he’s so excited to continue working with Murphy, with whom he previously collaborated with on Scream Queens, in the years ahead. For our part, we can’t wait to see all that they do.
