Coleman ISD placed on lockdown after reports of firearm on campus

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — (Updates 10:13 a.m.) A student was arrested after a handgun was retrieved by local law enforcement at Colemen ISD on May 16.

According to the Coleman Police Department, officers took the student into custody with no incident after the handgun was recovered on campus.

No shots were fired and no injuries have been reported.

Parents can pick up their students at the Bill Franklin Center. An ID is asked to be brought to ensure the appropriate release of children.

Coleman PD shared that school facilities are still being searched.

(Original 9:42 a.m.) Coleman ISD was placed on lockdown on the morning of May 16.

The Coleman Police Department said on social media that the lockdown occurred after they received reports of a suspect with a firearm. One suspect has been taken into custody according to the City of Coleman.

A thorough search of the campus is underway. No injuries have been reported and no other threat exists.

Parents can pick up their kids at the Bill Franklin Center.
