Colbert County mother accused of trying to drown child

COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A Colbert County mother is accused of biting, hitting and trying to drown her son, according to court records.

34-year-old Ashley Elizabeth Jones is charged with aggravated child abuse.

ADOC looking for escaped inmate from Morgan County facility

An affidavit filed in Colbert County District Court states that Jones tried to drown her son in a bathtub after biting/hitting him and throwing bleach on him.

Jones was arrested earlier this week and booked on a $50,000 bond and has since been released.

She is scheduled to appear in court on May 20th.
