Cloquet High School to send off Class of 2024

May 22—CLOQUET — Cloquet High School is expecting about 185 seniors to take the stage at this year's graduation.

"Our seniors have been just phenomenal all year, in really all walks of everything," said Cloquet High School Principal Steve Battaglia. "In terms of them being on campus kind of leading behaviors, in academics, athletically, extracurricular across the board."

The ceremony will take place Friday, May 24, from 6-7 p.m. The program will include a performance by the school's drum group and will feature two student speakers: class president Edward Stone and senior class vice president Grace Swanson, who the class chose to speak. Battaglia will emcee the event.

If the weather cooperates, graduation will be held outside at the Members Cooperative Credit Union Football Field behind Cloquet Middle School. If there is inclement weather, it will be moved inside the middle school gymnasium. The district will make a final decision Friday morning and will alert people through its school messenger platform, similar to how it announces a school closure or delay.

There will be no ticketing if the graduation is held at the football field. If it's indoors, each graduate will receive 10 tickets they can distribute to guests and students will receive their tickets during graduation practice at 1 p.m. Friday.

The gym can seat about 2,000 people when it is set up for graduation, according to Battaglia. If there is additional seating once guests with tickets are admitted, additional seating will be opened to the general public. Graduates will then be able to invite additional guests.

Parking will be available in the staff and student parking lots between the football field and tennis courts, with additional parking in the middle school parking lot. If it is in the gym, the middle school parking lot will serve as the primary parking lot. There will be a school resource officer and signage to direct parking.

After graduation, students will have roughly 30 minutes to socialize and take photos with family and friends before they depart for the all-night graduation party at the high school.
