Clogged system floods Brooklyn subway station during rush hour

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Commuters had to wade through water Tuesday afternoon after a subway station flooded in Brooklyn.

A video showed New Yorkers walking through a flooded hallway inside the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center subway station, some with plastic bags covering their shoes to keep them dry.

An MTA crew responded to the incident at 4 p.m. to clear away the sewage, officials said. The flooding was caused by a temporary backed-up drainage system, officials said.

Subway service was unaffected by the incident.
