Clinton Fire Dept. gets gift from wife of former firefighter

CLINTON, Ill. (WCIA) — The wife of a former Clinton firefighter is giving back to her husband’s department.

The Clinton Fire Department said Linda Dyer stopped by its regular meeting on Thursday to present Firefighter Alex Deerwester with a paramedic scholarship and to donate five Class A uniforms to other department members.

The funds were donated in honor of Dyer’s husband John, a firefighter of 30 years who passed away last month.

“We are thankful for her kindness in both the uniforms and the scholarship,” officials said. “John’s legacy in helping people will definitely live on in these guys. Thanks again Linda!”
