Clinton among 80 counties under tornado watch

May 21—Of Iowa's 99 counties, 80 are under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. tonight, including Clinton County.

The hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather Service issued at 3:30 p.m. says there is a moderate risk, or a level 4 out of 5 for severe weather through this evening for the region."

"All severe hazards will be possible including damaging winds of 60 to 80 mph, tornadoes, and large hail. In addition, repeated rounds of thunderstorms may bring an isolated flash flood risk and ponding of water," it says. "Some tributary rivers across eastern Iowa are experiencing flooding."

The counties under the tornado watch are Adair, Adams, Allamakee, Appanoose, Audubon, Benton, Black, Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Cedar, Cerro, Gordo, Chickasaw, Clarke, Clayton, Clinton, Crawford, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Delaware, Des, Moines, Dubuque, Emmet, Fayette, Floyd Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Howard, Humboldt, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Kossuth, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Mitchell, Monroe, Muscatine, Palo, Alto, Pocahontas, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Sac, Scott, Story, Tama, Taylor, Union, Van, Buren, Wapello, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Webster, Winnebago, Winneshiek
