Clarksville police seek clues, say Fort Campbell soldier was killed on Tiny Town Road

Clarksville police are investigating the death of decorated Fort Campbell soldier that occurred over the weekend as a homicide, they announced.

Investigators responded to an ambulance call in the 900 block of Tiny Town Road at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and found a woman who had already died, according to a department release.

The victim was identified Tuesday as Katia Duenas Aguilar, 23, of Mesquite Texas. Police said she was a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell, and her next of kin was notified of her death earlier in the week.

Katia Duenas-Aguilar, 23, was a soldier at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. She joined the Army in 2018 at Fort Eisenhower, Georgia before moving to Fort Campbell in 2019.

The police department did not release any other details about Aguilar's death, including how or when she died, though they did say it appears to be a "shooting" in a media release.

Fort Campbell confirmed Tuesday Aguilar was a soldier on the base who entered active duty as an Information Technology Specialist in 2018.

“We are stunned by the death of Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar,” said Lt. Col. Tony Hoefler, spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell. “In the meantime, we will continue to cooperate with Army and local investigative authorities on this matter.”

Aguilar completed basic combat training and advanced individual training at Fort Eisenhower (previously Fort Gordon), Georgia, before reporting to Fort Campbell in 2019.

Aguilar’s awards and commendations included two Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon, Fort Campbell said in release.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the woman's death to call the department at (931) 648-0656 ext. 5720.
