NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The City of New Orleans has announced that demolition is underway for a blighted Algiers property featured on its “Dirty Dozen” list.

City officials said crews began demolishing the property, formerly known as the DeGaulle Manor apartments, at 3010 Sandra Drive, noting it has been abandoned for 14 years.

According to the city, “the ownership was found guilty of 15 violations, including deteriorating condition of sidewalks, driveways, exterior walls, porches, doors, windows and roof, as well as trash and debris, rodents and graffiti.”

City officials said residents are advised to avoid the area until demolition is complete.
