City hosting quarterly meeting with mayor in evening

Mar. 21—The city of Terre Haute, under Mayor Brandon Sakbun's administration, has commenced a series of community engagement events during which citizens can meet with top officials.

The latest venture, following Coffee with the Chiefs — where Police Chief Kevin Barrett and Fire Chief Darrick Scott mix with residents at local coffee shops about once a month — and Mingle with the Mayor — which offers participants a slice of pie at Grand Traverse Pie Company every second Tuesday of the month — will be Slices with Sakbun.

Once a quarter, the mayor will appear at a local pizza restaurant to discuss issues of interest to his constituency. The first Slices with Sakbun will be March 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Monical's Pizza at 2147 Indiana 46.

The city's Facebook page features discount coupons for those participating in the event, one offering a 14" one-topping thin crust pie with five breadsticks for $20 and the other a three-topping individual pizza and garden salad for $11.
