The City of Grand Junction prohibits tents in public parks

Grand Junction, Colo. (KREX) — The City of Grand Junction has updated its park rules and installed new signage to reflect the changes.

Mayor Abram Herman stated that this is something the city does every couple years to make sure they have the best up-to-date practices. During Wednesday night’s meeting, the city implemented a ban on tents in public parks, which is clearly communicated through the new signage. The city’s intention behind the tent ban is to prioritize the safety and inclusivity of all park users.

In the coming week, the city will deploy resources to engage with individuals residing in tents at the park.
