City agrees to buy body armor for Dothan police officers

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Police officers will be becoming much safer while on the job.

They will soon have bulletproof vests.

The city commission will be applying for and accepting a grant from the 2024 Bureau of Justice bulletproof vest partnership to buy the body armor.

“It is such a dangerous job being out there as a police officer and we want to provide them with the best possible tools to make them feel safer, so they can come home to their families at the end of the day,” Mayor Saliba said.

No word on when that grant will come in to purchase the gear.
