City of Abilene says splash pads won’t open as planned

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Abilene’s splash pads won’t be opening this Saturday, as previously scheduled.

In a release, the city said a third-party company which manages the city’s aquatics programs has encountered some mechanical issues.

The city said opening dates will be released as repairs are made at each Abilene’s six splash pads. In turn a ribbon cutting ceremony at the newest location, Coach James Valentine splash pad, scheduled for May 3 will be rescheduled.

Adventure Cove will still open on May 18, as planned.
