Christian Author Reveals She's Dating Abby Wambach

From Cosmopolitan

Glennon Doyle Melton, a Christian author known for her popular blog, Momastery, and her Oprah’s Book Club-approved memoir, Love Warrior, has always been frank and open about her personal life. And now, according to the Washington Post, she has everyone talking once again with her latest revelation: After recently divorcing her husband, she’s now dating soccer star Abby Wambach.

In a lengthy Facebook post, she announced the new relationship by talking about what Wambach means to her and how she is blending in with the family:

Abby is deeply sensitive and kind. The kids call her an M&M because she looks tough on the outside but inside she’s really mushy and sweet. Abby’s brave. Not just with her words but with her entire being. She has never been afraid to be herself, even when the world told her not to be. I learn from her everyday about the woman I want to become. […] And oh my God, she is so good to me. She loves me for all the things I’ve always wanted to be loved for. She’s just my favorite. My person.

Melton also added that the whole family, including her ex-husband, gets together for family meals and attends school parties together. “When Craig and I sat them down to tell them about Abby I started by saying: ‘In our family, we live and tell the truth about who we are no matter what, and then love each other through it - and I’m about to show you how that’s done,’” she wrote. And though she has always supported same-sex marriage, she got some potential criticism out of the way with this concise quote: “The most revolutionary thing a woman can do is not explain herself.”

She also posted a sweet photo of the two of them lounging on a bench, Wambach playing the guitar:

Overall, her comments have been flooded with support and praise. Her announcement has drawn comparisons to Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert, who revealed in September that she was in love with her best friend, Rayya Elias.

Wambach also recently split from her wife, Sarah Huffman, after the soccer player openly struggled with substance abuse. She has been less open about her Catholic upbringing than Wambach but has recently said in an interview that she was rethinking her faith after a long time away.
