Checking it twice

Apr. 23—Local County Election Officials and School and City Secretaries met last week for the public test of automatic tabulating equipment for the May 4 elections in Henderson County. This test is required to be performed by statue for each election that is held in the State of Texas that use electronic tabulating equipment. It is a great way to see how the equipment works and how it is verified for accuracy.

The first part of the process is to tabulate a test set of ballots and print the reports. The second part is to hand tally that same set and verify it matches the machine tabulations. The third part is a HASH testing that verifies that the programs installed on the voting machines matches a trusted and approved software file from the Secretary of State.

Everything passed the tests and is now ready for Early Voting which starts on Monday April 22, 2024. Henderson County will be handling elections for City of Athens, City of Seven Points, City of Gun Barrel City, City of Mabank, City of Chandler, Kemp Independent School District, City of Brownsboro, Trinity Valley Community College, Athens Independent School District and Mabank Independent School District.
