Cheatham County deputies arrest Kentucky fugitive wanted for 6 years

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A faulty taillight and some good police work in Middle Tennessee led to the discovery of a Kentucky fugitive from justice.

According to court personnel in Simpson County, Kentucky, Patricia Moore was sentenced to one year in jail for cocaine charges in 2016, but that sentence was suspended in lieu of three years probation.

As part of that probation, officials said Moore was expected to regularly meet with her probation officers and participate in treatment programs. However, she reportedly stopped doing this, so a bench warrant was issued for Moore.

For more than six years, the now-57-year-old has been out of sight.

Then, on Friday, April 19, Cheatham County Deputy Jason Lee Knotts stopped a car on Bearwallow Road for a faulty taillight. A quick check of the vehicle’s occupants turned up a red flag as the deputy noticed that Moore — who listed her home address as Nashville — had an outstanding warrant as a fugitive from justice.

News 2 obtained the body camera footage of the stop and the interaction between Moore and the authorities at the scene.

“You know you got a warrant out of Kentucky?” the deputy asked.

“Do I?” Moore replied. “They sent me paperwork. I have a court date.”

Moore is reportedly behind bars in Cheatham County, awaiting extradition back to Kentucky.

Once returned to the Commonwealth, officials said Moore may have to serve the one year in jail that was set aside by the court in 2016.
