Charges against Central Falls councilman dropped

CENTRAL FALLS − A charge of simple assault lodged against a Central Falls councilman last year has been dropped.

Councilman Kevin K. Kazarian was charged on Dec. 12 after an encounter with police and fire personnel who had gone to his home to check on his well-being.

His behavior was described as "erratic" and the 60-year-old had become "upset" during the evaluation, putting his hands on a police officer and a firefighter, police said at the time.

Councilman Kazarian is appreciative

After the dismissal, Kazarian said he appreciated everything the city did to resolve the issue.

"I think we worked well together to resolve the issue," he said.
