Changes coming to Lancaster’s Red Rose Alert system

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– Lancaster is expanding its use of the Red Rose Alert system.

The system is capable of sending out critical information in a variety of situations. For several years it’s mostly been used during water emergencies.

Now the city is using it to provide updates on unexpected road closures, cancellation of trash pickup and in emergencies.

In fact, the system was used two Saturdays ago for that bomb threat at the library.

“There have been a number of issues kind of throughout the country and locally that have really elevated the need to improve and bolster our emergency preparedness,” Communications Manager for Lancaster City DJ Ramsay said. “So this is why we’re really working to roll out the system.’
