Champaign Police make arrest in Feb. shooting investigation

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to a shooting that left a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

Department officials said their investigation into the Feb. 19 shooting indicated that Allen Williams, 32 of Calumet City, approached a man who was sitting in his car that was parked in his driveway on West Vine Street. Williams is accused of opening fire, striking the victim several times. The victim’s wounds were described as potentially life-threatening, but he survived and was later released from the hospital.

Two months after the shooting, Williams was arrested by Champaign Police in the area of Westfield and Lawndale Drives. He’s been booked into the Champaign County Jail on charges that include attempted first-degree murder.
