CCHS jet restored to U.S. Navy specs

Apr. 12—Cumberland County High School recently announced the school's mascot Navy Blue Angels Jet restoration has been completed. CCHS officials thank the faculty and students at Tennessee College of Applied Technology for their hard work and many hours dedicated to the restoration. CCHS also thanks the many people in the community for their generous contributions to help fund the project. CCHS plans to host an unveiling in May. The school plans a rededication during the football homecoming festivities next school year. The retired Navy A-4 jet was originally delivered to the school in 1981. It bears the name of Curt Watson, a 1968 CCHS graduate who flew with the Blue Angels from 1983-'86. Watson helped have the jet repainted as a replica Blue Angel jet in the '80s. The restoration project took roughly two years to complete.
