CBI searching for suspects in Rocky Ford drive-by shooting

(ROCKY FORD, Colo.) — The Colorado Bureau of Investigations (CBI) is investigating after a Rocky Ford home with people inside was heavily damaged by a drive-by shooting on the evening of Wednesday, April 3.

According to the CBI, officers with the Rocky Ford Police Department (RFPD) responded around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday to a home in the 0-100 block of Yucca Drive in Rocky Ford on reports of shots fired. RFPD officers and deputies with the Otero County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) responded, and discovered that people were present in the home when the shooting occured.

The CBI said no one inside the home was injured, however there was “extensive property damage,” and evidence of the shooting was also found nearby along the road. During a neighborhood canvas, the CBI said a small black SUV or sedan and a white sedan were seen speeding away from the area shortly after.

The CBI said it is unclear if these two cars were involved in the shooting or were simply fleeing the gunfire.

The CBI and RFPD are looking for anyone who may have information or video surveillance that could have captured cars leaving the area. If you believe you can assist with the investigation, you are asked to contact RFPD at (719) 254-3344.
