Car windshield riddled with bullets in uptown Charlotte shooting; suspect sought

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A suspect who shot into an occupied vehicle in uptown Charlotte is being sought, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced Wednesday.

CMPD officers responded to a shots fired call around 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, in the 1100 block of Harrill Street, just east of uptown Charlotte.

A short time later, officers then responded to what they said was a related incident at 7th Street and North Caldwell Street by First Ward Park. Witnesses told CMPD officers that a crash had occurred and a man fled from a vehicle that was involved in the wreck.

Two vehicles, including one that was involved in the wreck, were found riddled with bullet holes including one with 14 bullet holes in the windshield. It is still unclear at this time if this was a targeted attack. CMPD said two guns were recovered at the crime scene.

CMPD said charges in this incident would include hit-and-run for property damage and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle. CMPD believes that both scenes are connected and are asking witnesses to come forward with any information.
