“Canutillo ISD is the highest performing school district in El Paso because of the work our teachers and employees do and the commitment they make to student performance,” said Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz.

“Ms. Spencer, Ms. Zeh and Ms. Salgado showcase the high-quality of work that is performed in CISD on a daily basis,” Galaviz said.

The three winners were chosen by a panel of judges who used interviews, letters of recommendation and other factors in determining who would be selected as the 2024 TOYs and AEOY, according to the district.

Spencer and Zeh will represent Canutillo ISD at the Region 19 Teacher of the Year Program for a chance to be named the top educator in West Texas and represent the city at the Texas Teacher of the Year contest.

The winners were recognized during a gala sponsored by Raiz Federal Credit Union, which featured the theme of “Canutillo’s Aces.” The winners received a $1,000 stipend from the district.
