Cannes turned into MexiCannes when a mariachi band showed up

If you’ve been keeping up with our Cannes coverage here at HelloGiggles, then you know we love a good red carpet look almost as much as we love a good party. Cannes has had a lot of both, but the festival just outdid itself, inspiring one of our new favorite hashtags. #Mexicannes started because of an epic photo — when some of Mexico’s most famous actors and directors casually decided to gather and, you know, change our lives in the process.

Diego Luna, Guillermo Del Torro, and Salma Hayek were some of those in attendance for the epic Cannes photo and we are speechless.

In case you were wondering just how epic this photo is, or how many awards these folks have between them, Buzzfeed en Español just broke it down. Oh, and the answer is a lot!

So that in itself would be a pretty epic celebration of #Mexicannes, but in true Latinx fashion, they had to go above and beyond to show just how epic this event was. What we’re saying is that…

Salma Hayek hired a mariachi band to play and the result is a dream come true; a red carpet event, plus a mariachi band?! Where do we sign up?!

The band played some favorites like “Cielito Lindo” and “El Rey,” and the videos are equal parts inspiring and envy-inducing. The best part is that everyone gets into it! Even those who don’t know the songs are able to enjoy, dancing along and probably (hopefully) sipping some tequila.
