Calm skies for now, warming up this weekend

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Thursday, Utah! It’s going to be another gorgeous day in the Beehive State!

Mostly sunny skies are expected today, a band of moisture will bring a thin layer of high-altitude cloud coverage to southern Utah in the evening, but not enough to dampen your day.

Bottom Line? More beautiful outdoor weather is in store and a weekend warming trend is on the way.

Temperatures will be reminiscent of what we saw yesterday with highs a few degrees below seasonal norms in the north and a few degrees above in the south. Daytime highs will reach the upper 50s in northern Utah, mid-60s in central, and upper 60s to 70s in the south, with warm spots like St. George and Lake Powell climbing into the mid-80s.

Northern Utah’s stable temperature trend starts to make an upward turn tomorrow reaching the mid-60s. The trend continues through the weekend with temperatures in the 70s by Sunday and may continue gradually rising well into next week.

Southern Utah will also feel things heating up, but not quite as quickly. The south will top out in the mid to upper 70s by the end of the week and St. George has the potential to break the first 90-degree mark on Monday, but Sunday will be close.

The beautiful spring weather comes with a cost for allergy sufferers. Pollen counts are in the extreme category this week with the main culprit being trees, but grass is becoming a key player as well. So long as the pollen doesn’t keep you trapped inside, it will be a perfect outdoor weather week!
