Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, the mobile version of the smash-hit battle royale for the classic FPS series Call of Duty, is out now. Designed for Warzone fans looking for Battle Royale action on the go, the game's mobile version will also share progression with its PC and console versions.

Whether you're a new recruit looking to join the action or a Warzone veteran eager to return to combat, read on as we brief you on everything you need to know to survive in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile:

Maps and modes

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile launched with two large-scale maps, Verdansk and Rebirth Island, that comes with their own game modes suited to different styles of combat.

Regardless of your choice of map or game mode, the gameplay flow is still the tried-and-true Battle Royale formula: land on the map and prepare for combat by looking around for gear, eliminate other players and squads as the combat area gets progressively smaller, and become the last player or squad standing.

Here's what you need to know about Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile's two main maps and game modes:

Verdansk - Battle Royale

Verdansk is a fan-favourite map and a familiar stomping ground for Warzone veterans, hosting up to 120 players across a multitude of areas that accommodate both run-and-gun and stealthy playstyles. This map hosts the Battle Royale game mode, where you must fight to be the last player or squad standing.

For players looking for a more fast-paced match, there is also the option to select the 'Mobile Royale' mode where the combat area shrinks much faster compared to a regular Battle Royale match.

Verdanks also features the 'Gulag' mechanic, which gives players the option to quickly redeploy if they are able to win a one-versus-one against another eliiminated player.

Rebirth Island - Resurgence

Rebirth Island is a much smaller map compared to Verdansk that can host up to 48 players looking for non-stop action. This map makes use of Resurgence rules, which lets players respawn as long as one of their teammates is still alive on the map to get them back into the fighting.

Of course, the main objective in Rebirth Island remains the same: survive and be the last player or squad standing.

Aside from Verdansk and Rebirth Island, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile also features a number of multiplayer maps and game modes for players looking to take a break from Battle Royale action. These include classic Call of Duty maps like Shipment, Shoot House, and Scrapyard that host game modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Search & Destroy.

Gas, the Gulag, and Redeployments

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile feature three mechanics integral to the Battle Royale experience: Gas, the Gulag, and Redeployments.

As a Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile match progresses, players will be forced into a progressively smaller combat area by a continously shrinking ring of poisonous gas.

Players can survive in the gas for a short amount of time, but will eventually need to leave the poisonous cloud unless they want to suffer a humiliating elimination. Equipping a Gas Mask can extend the period that a player can survive in the gas, but it won't last forever, so you will need to stay in the shrinking combat area and take the fight to other players.

Playing in Verdansk gives players the unique opportunity to bounce back from getting eliminated through the Gulag mechanic.

Upon their first elimination, a player will be put into the Gulag where they will face another recently-eliminated player in a one-versus-one with a simple, identical loadout. Eliminating the other player will let you quickly redeploy back into the match. The Gulag won't be around as a safety net forever though, as it will close in the later stages of the match.

Another safety net is available for player when they are playing in a squad, as their teammates can purchase a redeployment from a Buy Station to redeploy an eliminated teammate that has either already used up their Gulag redeployment or lost their Gulag match.

Keep in mind that the Buy Station redeployment is an expensive purchase and can only be used on one eliminated teammate with every use.

Gear up with Supply Boxes and Contracts

Having the right gear is key to staying alive in Warzone, and the primary way to gear up is by locating Supply Boxes and Buy Stations. Of course, you will need money in order to make any purchases, and completing Contracts will be instrumental in racking up cash.

Every Warzone map contains a large number of Supply Boxes that contain different kinds of loot. These emit a unique sound queue to help players pinpoint their location and are usually found inside buildings and other secure locations.

When a player opens a Supply Box, weapons, ammo, Killstreaks, Gas Masks, and Cash will pop out for them to equip.

Aside from Supply Boxes, players can also locate Buy Stations to purchase weapons and other gear of their choice, provided they have the cash for it. There are multiple Buy Stations in each map and are indicated by a Shopping Cart icon.

In order to have the cash to spend in Buy Stations, players will need to complete Contracts, which will reward them with a huge influx of money once they complete a variety of objectives. These objectives range from eliminating a target player, opening a number of Supply Boxes, and remaining within a specific area for a period of time.

Contracts can be started by interacting with physical laptops located around the map, which are displayed as various icons that depend on the Contract type.

Prepare your Loadout

It pays to be prepared in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, so players will need to manage their Loadouts in order to have the right set of gear for whatever combat situations they may face out in the field. The Loadout system should be familiar for Call of Duty players, though it works a bit differently in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.

In order to manage your Loadouts, go to the 'Weapons' tab at the top left of your screen to set up custom Loadouts. Every Loadout consists of a Primary Weapon, a Secondary Weapon, Tactical Equipment, Lethal Equipment, and a Perk Package.

Primary and Secondary Weapons should be easy enough to understand, and players can select from a large variety of firearms with different classes and attachments to suit their needs.

Tactical Equipment lets players control the flow of combat with a variety of grenades and other gear. The Tactical Equipment at a player's disposal include a Stun Grenade, Battle Rage, Smoke Grenade, Scatter Mine, Decoy Grenade, Flash Grenade, Snapshot Grenade, Shock Stick, Stim, Experimental Gas, and EMD Grenade.

Meanwhile, Lethal Equipment are used to damage or outright eliminate other players both during and outside of firefights. The Lethal Equipment at a player's disposal include a Proximity Mine, Drill Charge, Molotov Cocktail, Semtex, C4, Throwing Star, Breacher Drone, Frag Grenade, Claymore, Throwing Knife, Thermite, and Thermobaric Grenade.

Finally, Perks are special abilities that improves different aspects of an Operator's capabilities both inside and outside of combat. These range from improving their damage output, movement speed, reload speed, and more.

Perks come in Perk Packages with four Perk slots, with each slot featuring progressively stronger abilities. Players can select from 12 Perks in Perk slots 1 and 2, 10 Perks in Perk slot 3, and 7 Perks in Perk slot 4.

Things like player and weapon levels, Battle Pass progression, and friends lists will be fully synced between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.

Most content acquired in Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone can also be seamlessly transferred to Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.
